This weekend I got hired to shoot a wedding for a gorgeous bride at an incredible venue in Dallas. They had a friend shoot the full day and they had me there for the ceremony and portraits! It was my first destination wedding so I’m super glad I got the opportunity and can’t wait to shoot in Dallas and beyond more often!
Since we were only technically working 2-3 hours, we decided to fill the time we had there with sight-seeing and being mega tourists. We drove up early Saturday morning for a meeting at Houndstooth Coffee which was extremely highly rated and had a cool atmosphere. After the meeting we checked into the best little Airbnb ever! It was a perfect-sized little studio on top of the host’s home. The host came to greet us when we arrived and brought up some croissants and even had some quality coffee on hand for us from Full City Rooster. I loved it so much after we checked out I had to go buy some!
After we were settled in I convinced Jon to take me to Nordstrom for the first time. I probably enjoyed it a little too much but it was so fun!
For dinner we went to IN N OUT for my first time. I’ve been dying to try it for years because it seems like everyone is crazy for their burgers, but I was definitely underwhelmed and I’m pretty confident I got mild food poisoning. I got the cheeseburger, fries and a vanilla shake and nothing really impressed me (sorry to half of the world, I don’t understand your obsession.)
I wasn’t feeling the best after dinner so we went back to the airbnb for some work and watched a Star Wars movie. It was the first time I’ve actually paid attention to one of them and enjoyed it quite a bit! Yeah I am was of those people that hadn’t seen any of the star wars movies, I’m working on it.
For Brunch Sunday morning we went to Whisk for brunch! It’s a super cool idea, you can build your own crepe and there’s a window that you can watch the whole process. They had both savory and sweet, Jon got a simple one with eggs, ham and cheese and I got mine full of veggies. It was great but I wish we had tried a sweet one!
After finishing my mimosa, we headed to the wedding venue which was the Chapel at Ana Villa. The Chapel was one of my favorite venues I’ve ever shot at & I really hope I get the opportunity to go back!!
The Monday after the wedding we went to the Dallas Arboretum early in the morning. I was super excited because since Dallas is warmer there was still quite a bit of fall colors left. I was super excited if you can’t tell! It was a bit pricey ($45 total for the both entrance fees + parking) but it was definitely worth seeing once and I would definitely go back again! They had the cutest Christmas setup, with a whole tour of the 12 days of Christmas all over the park. Jon & I found a huge pile of leaves and took some really fun photos, then a couple taking their engagement photos saw us and their photographer made them do the same! It was super cute.
After the Arboretum, we went to the Highland Park Village for Starbucks, shopping, and some cupcakes at Bird Bakery. The cupcakes were great and the decor was even better!
Dallas is quickly becoming one of my favorite getaways!
